Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This rose was made without any tools whatsoever. Simply place a ball of gumpaste between two pieces of plastic and shape with your fingers. If anyone is interesting in trying it, you can find the tutorial here: http://cakesdecor.com/LMCakeDesign/blog/560. Something is a little off with the placement of the petals but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Never really like how I do my roses. Don't seem realistic enough. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't see anything wrong with your "placement" of your petals G.  Don't forget real true roses in nature don't neccesarily have "perfect" placement.  The coral rose I posted, I actually had a pic of one of my own roses from my garden I fashioned mine from.  I haven't ckd out your tutorial as I write this, but I have been rolling out petals between plastic wrap with my fingers for ages.

Thank you both.  Yes, Katy this is what I was doing.  It is snowing and such a lousy day that I figured I would play with gumpaste.  lol

Erm off?  I don't think so - looks wonderful to me.  So this is what you've been doing this afternoon eh?  Time well spent.
