Gorgeous!
Deep Bow, Bow....ha! ha!
Amen, sister!
Just love, love that "victorian" look Sandra. I mentioned in a earlier post to Linda that I am going to try and use elements of your flowers & her piping in a cake I am making for my niece to be for the wedding this May. Regarding your discussions about embellishments on cakes...I NEVER feel embarassed if I use ribbon, or even....Eeeeeee fake flowers....you heard me....fake flowers!!!!!!
I used some fake flowers, doctored them, and everyone thought they were real. It was well before I knew how to make them. But I wouldn't have any qualms doing this again in a pinch. There is "snobbery" as Linda says. But if you are happy with the look & and so is the receiver...who cares.
LOL, me too Linda, I refuse to do those kid themed cakes, epic cakes, extravagavant or anything I won't enjoy looking at (lol). Good thing I don't do this job as my living... My moto...it has to be beautiful or I won't do it.
I will mail it to you right away.
Are you kidding me?? I would love a yard! It's beautiful! I'll give my address in a private message.
(In all honesty, Sandra.....I hate doing those kid themed cakes.)
I hear your my friend... what a good save, she had those figures for you, I can't imagine the extensive work that will go on that cake. (well, my offer stands if you like a yard of that french ruffle) just email me your address, you have mine already.
Sandra, I think it is more of a snobbery among cake decorators that think you absolutely have to have everything edible, everything handmade, etc. I never realized this until I started looking on the actual cake sites for cake decorators. The average customer has no clue as to whether it is silk, gum paste, real ribbons or fondant ribbons, nor do they really care-unless it is a cake decorator getting the cake! I had to do a Dora the Explorer cake this weekend and I asked the lady if she wanted me to make the Dora figures from gum paste, and she said no, she had already purchased her little figures on line and wanted me to use those. I was thrilled! As it was, I still had to make the Dora house, trees, bushes, the map and all kinds of other stuff, so I was really glad that I didn't have to mess with the figures too. Nope, you won't fine me sticking my nose up, Sandra. I have been fine with using all kinds of props for years. It's just been in the last few years that I have realized that most decorators tend to frown on that, so I have been trying to teach myself new ways, to give myself more credibility.
