Hi, I am a new WMI at Joann's. I have a Demo at the store in a week and would appreciate any ideas about how to set up and what to demo.
Thanks.
I'm am in need of an answer it is very humid here this weekend and i have a wedding cake that is going to have fresh flowers on it. Here is my problem the bride thought i could just push the flowers in the cake as her florist said oh ya they love the moisture of the cake and sugar. I had to laugh because i know that isnt true so i did do alot of reading on the internet. And no these are not orgainic so yes they will of bin in contact with what ever the flower shop keeps them alive longer. Well i thought of wraping them but because of the weather her this weekend to hot they will of wilted by the time the party arrives. So the bride did go buy flower picks from the bulk barn with lids so i can add water I'v never used them and from what the bride told me they are about 3 inches long 1/2 inch wide. PS its gerber daiseys and daiseys going on this cake. My ? is when i stick these picks in knowing its gonna puch cake will the sides of the fondant split. As the bride wants a flowing down 1 side of the cake and nothing else so there is no room to hide mistakes on the other side. Hope i made scense.
Bela, On my first demo i used sugar cookies from GFS but the were a bit big, so my last demo I used vanilla wafer cookie and it was a huge success. I just did bright color in multiple bags so I had plenty of icing and switched tips. I made the basics of fish, drop flowers, inch worms and even used the grass tip to make shaggy monsters. The Joanne district manager happened to be in that day and emailed my demo to other stores :)
Berlynda I wish I could help but I have never used picks on the side of a cake, only on top. You might try to search on Cake Central if you can't find an answer here. Good luck I would like to know how it turns out and what you ended up doing.
Machelle -- thanks so much for the great idea.
I'M AT THE NEW MICHAEL'S IN VIRGINIA AND I LOVE IT!!! GREAT ATMOSHPERE AND MY CO-WORKERS ARE AWESOME. FINALLY!!! HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE SOME WHERE ELSE
