Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi, im new to this, not a professional baker, but would like to learn a little about baking cakes, can someone explain to me what is "marshmallow fondant" and how to make it, and any other tips will be welcome. My brothers son is turning 5 in July and we would like to make him a Smurf Cake.

I would just buy commercial fondant (Satin Ice is great) and just use this to cover the cake.  You can make all the details from coloured fondant (it is just like using modelling clay) and it comes ready to use (you just need to knead it a bit).  Way easier than trying to make your own fondant.

Marshmallow fondant is very unpredictable so I agree that you should try pre made first just to get a feel for it before you make your own . Once you know the texture of it and how it is supposed to act you can make your own alot easier.

This is a link to a good recipe : http://designmeacake.com/mfrec.html

Hope this helps!
