Check out the ICES11.org website that has whole pages of info for first timers and also info on the banquet.  Basically you get your banquet ticket voucher with your registration packet. You then need to turn it in for an assigned seating ticket at the banquet exchange table. If you want to sit with a bunch of people, one person should collect all the vouchers and go exchange them all at the same time so you can sit at the same table. You just have to remember to retrieve your own ticket from that person before the night of the banquet.

Thanks Mary Jo, I guess I have to figure out who I want to sit with and then myself or someone else can collect the tickets.  Do you know how many to a table?  I've been to the ices11.org website, and I plan to go to the first timers orientation as well!  Looking forward to my first convention in August!!

Usually, 8 or 10 to a table.  Carolyn Lawrence would know as she and Cora have done this for years.  In fact, Cora, during the time she and Carolyn were co-show directors for the 1995 show in Kansas City, MO came up with this procedure of vochures for seating because everyone rushing to get a table was too much to deal with.  The attendance to ICES was getting to be really high, so something needed to be done.

By the way, I know someone who is selling their tickets as they are not going to the banquet.  People will post messages on the message Board that is in the registration/information area.  It's good to check that out once in awhile.  If a State is having a meeting at convention, that would be posted there.  Be sure to sign the ICES attendance book, so that others from your state will know you are there.  The Orientation for First Timers is great as you great lots of hints and good info.  I used to have an information sheet on this that I posted on my site.  I'll have to see if I still have it.

According to Francie, there will be 8 to a table which is so much nicer than being so crowded.  Cora and I haven't yet gotten the floor/table diagram, but when there is room, 8 to a table is so much nicer.  Angela, sometimes people choose to get their whole state group of members together to sit together.  Texas usually does this and they usually take up to 10 tables and we try to get them close together.  They draw one number and then we give them the tables all around that table if they are available.  So, it pays to have them come early if they all want to sit together.

You're just bad Diane!!  :)  Had a wonderful party!  Wish you guys could have come.  Had guests from Iowa, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania and not sure if that's all besides Missouri, of course.

The other thing to mention is for everyone to check out the ICES 11 facebook page. I post daily (usually) Tips of the Day for everyone and there is current info that gets posted on their. Also States and Chapters group together for tables at the Friday morning membership breakfast. Ask someone in your state if they are doing this, or look for a sign at the breakfast. don't forget to attend the breakfast meeting, it is really interesting for first timers to get this inside look into how ICES works. You will also get a chance to vote for the ICES president and officers and new Board members. Hope you'll vote for me :-). I hope you have a great time at the convention. I know my first time was amazing!

congrats on beating the cancer and returning back to great health to be able to attend another convention!  I won't be able to attend your demo on Sunday as I am helping a friend with a project of hers at noon.  But have a great time and maybe we'll run into each other.
