Well, my immediate dream is just to feel confident that at least 99% of the cakes I bake will be smooth and level and easy to crumb coat and ice -- in other words, I want to develop control and consistency.

I want to become practiced at all the steps and things to remember that my ADD and forgetfulness won't cause me to have to rebake a cake and have stress!

I'd like for cake decorating to be something I can do to earn a little part-time money when my disability benefits come through (I hope they do!).

Now for bigger dreams -- I'd like to make really beautiful cakes like some of the "big names" mentioned by people here. Ron Ben-Israel rocks! And so does Kerry Vincent and many others whose cakes I've seen. I would enjoy being able to make confectionary creations of such beauty and imagination and execute them well.

Thanks Debra, I intend to do just as you suggested. I even did type up a sort of "preflight checklist" on my computer of all the steps in baking, leveling, etc. a cake, and I'm going to laminate that sucker and follow it step by step so I won't have as many "oopses" as I've had in the past. I know probably even Ron Ben-Israel had an oops or two when he was starting out, LOL!

Hello everyone! My cake dream is to "go to" those interested in learning my cake techniques and the how to. My cake dream is to go to cake shops who are in retail cake and who teach cake classes, offer my teachings which will help their business grow and it will help me to increase my portfolio. And with networking this will (I feel ) will help our cake artists out there to become more confident in their cake decorating abilities. My cake dream is to network in the video world of teaching via video to those wonderful cake artists who I would be unable to make to journey to go to them and teach.
I have so many wonderful ideas swirling on the how to do this, it's the way to get this project started. I am eager to assist and help. I want to teach you to make the marvels in the simple and easy way. To teach you to love fondant.
I am truly grateful that I found this site because everyone here is so so wonderful and helpful. And I most appreciate it that. Cake Snob I am NOT!
Thanks.......

I'm working full time right now. But my ulitmate "cake dream" is to open a bakery w/ my best friend & fellow decorator. We are starting slow, just doing friends & family right now. But we're young & have the patience & know where we are headed!!

I am almost retiring age,I have always played with cakes when my children were small. I quit because of arthritis or RA. But recently I started back and I work part time at a local hospital and now since I have been making birthday cakes for my friends,it has took off. I enjoy this so much.....I make cakes almost every day now. Not sure of the future, but hope it gets better...
