Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to the cake decorating world, been doing it for a little over a year now. I'm located in NE Wisconsin, anyone close?

I'm wondering if anyone has tips on where to purchase supplies in bulk? Does anyone purchase online, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Sandra, the most important thing I can think of is whatever you do, ADD sour cream to the recipe if it doesnt already ask for it. red velvet tends to be a little on the dry side sometimes. I ALWAYS add sour cream to my red velvet and chocolate cake

Hi all. I am a Mom of a 2 yr and 3 yr old, in Nova Scotia, Canada. I started making cakes in Jan of this year. My first time baking chocolate, pound, spice cakes, my first time making and using fondant, gum paste, and modeling chocolate. Before that the only cakes I ever made were for the occasional birthday and it involved a box and a tub of frosting. I'm soooo glad I discovered the 'cake world'. I love it, and wouldn't want to be doing anything else!!! I started selling cakes in March and amazingly enough have been quite busy. I truely love it, but boy am I busy!!! It is really hard work; doing cakes and looking after my own two little ones. I am self taught up to this point. I just started my first class - Wilton course 1- not sure how much faith I have in it though, but sure I will learn something. I think some of my biggest learning tools will be to talk with all of you, and learn things from other experienced decorators :)

Hi, I am in Tn, My husband is stationed here are Ft. Campbell. I have recently quit my part-time job to run with my cakes( or walk as my husband put it right now, LOL) I used to do cakes all the time as a teenager, but forgot about my passion till last year I fixed my neighbors wedding cake for her, & that reminded me how much I love doing it. I realized that doing cakes is something feasable to do as a home business while still being able to stay home with my girls who are 7 & 8 1/2
