Hi Danielle,

I too have bought most of my cake tins form op shops and garage sales. I have only bought one tin and that was a Fat Daddios 35cm pan (about $26) from Spotlight.

Danielle - I have found some good used ones also on ebay. I got a set of 4 tins for $25 from a girl in Melbourne who made her own wedding cake.  I think it was too stressful and she decided to get rid of the pans LOL!

Silica is inert and therefore not a concern if you eat it. BUT... I cover the kitty litter with a couple of paper towels and sit the flowers or models on that. Sometimes I also leave them on the sponge rubber I put my models on to fry and put the whole thing into the box with the kitty litter.

If it gets REALLY humid here (which it has the past few weeks especially) I leave the petals to dry on the formers but put the whole lot in the box - I've a large plastic tub with stackable cake racks, so I can pack a fair bit into it.

Hi - Does anyone here sell their cakes as a home baker?  I am just wondering what the Australian standards involved in that are?  Do you need to register with the Food Safety people or something? I have had people say I should do it as a business and am wondering if that is too much of a headache?  I have liability insurance but is that different?   Would love to hear what you ladies do?
