to be honest i like all my tips , except for my small leaf tips , i have a tendancy of just useing my bigger leaf tips they dont casue me problems with pipingmy icing out of them , my small leaf tips give me constant problems, but i am also just recently stated trying to learn how too make other types of flowers then just roses, i have tryed carnations, and i think either lillies or daisies , but to be honest with that, LOL i dont know names of the different types of flowers, so i go by pictures, and try to make the pictures , until i get each flower name drilled into my head LOL
The Wilton tips are fine...they are made well and offer lots of variety. I love piping work and fell in love with lace filligree and brush and freehand embroidery. I think it is very elegant and you use small round tips like 0,1,2 and sometimes 3. It takes some practice but once you get the hang of it, it isn't that hard. You just need a steady hand. The set of 26 tips is a good basic set and has just about everything you would need for decorating. You can do shell borders, round pearl borders, basketweave, flowers, swags, bows, ruffless, pretty much everything.
Someone mentioned having a steady hand when piping... that's certainly not me! LOL! I think that is why I'm not overly excited about doing buttercream/piping work. Especially when it comes to writing the message on the cake! I think I need the most practice with that.
