hi guys i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to get a smooth covering on my cakes. i am using fondant and i keep getting lumps and bumps.It's starting to drive me mad lol i have just started making and decorating cakes and would like to get better at it

Hi Debbie, We have a few videos in the video section that should help. Have your cake really cold before you apply the fondant. Smooth the top first and work your way down the sides. Pick the fondant up at the edge to straighten out the creases and smooth as you remove those creases. Using a fondant smoother helps. When it's smooth to the bottom, trim the edge with a pizza cutter. Make sure you work in a cool kitchen, because summer heat creates air bubbles and soft fondant.
