Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have been asked to make a pull apart cake.  Does anyone have any tricks or tips during the construction/frosting stage?

This will have a fondant letterman letter on it with a megaphone fondant accent.

Thanks in advance

Okay, what the heck is a pull apart cake? I just did 2 smash cakes this month and I had never even heard of them before.

Sounds like a cupcake cake...put 24 cupcakes together in some pattern and frost as a single cake...fill in all the gaps with icing. Then decorate!
Hey Theresa ~ a "smash" cake???

A smash cake turns out to be a miniature version of the cake you make the customer that is intended for the baby to "smash." Kids these days are spoiled.

I took this snippet from http://www.blogto.com/toronto/the_best_custom_and_wedding_cakes_in_...

"...One of the unique options here is the “pull-apart” cakes - strategically placed cupcakes that are frosted with a solid icing layer that is then decorated to match any theme. No knives are needed - just grab a cupcake and pull..."
