if you go to u-tube there is a video, and cake boss has a video also, are you talking about draping,
Norm Davis on YouTube. He has a whole series of tutorials on making various fondant decorations, including pleats, swags and bows. Good luck!! :)
Teneshia,
Are you looking for pleats to put on the cake or the entire cake pleated?
Thank you guys for your responses...

Jeri...the entire cake will be pleated. thinking more to do it with strips of fondant. I've been trying but it doesn't look so great...was hoping to get some visual help...:)

Will be you-tubing later :)
Hey Teneshia... I think we talked about this on a PM earlier... I have an entire cake to do that way too this summer. I have a number of a lady that is going to help me so if I get it down... I will share! When is the cake you need to do? Mine is not until the end of August

For the type of pleats you are talking about, you roll out the fondant/gum paste mixture very thin. You're going to do this in sections. Gather each section together at the top and lay the gathered end on the top of the tier. Then you add another section next to it. You'll put the gathered end right up to the bottom of the tier above.
Jeri...the cake is for 12 June.

Thanks for the helpful tips Theresa...I was thinkling of laying them one at a time on the cake...haha...

There are all different kinds of effects that are called "pleats." If you upload a picture, we'll know the look you're striving for.

Hi guys:

I tried the pleating and this is the result...whooo!!!

My strips ended up being different sizes...mainly because i didn't want to use too much fondant on a test cake...(ahh boy)...so what I had to do was flatten where the ends meet...maybe the cake will sit better if i do this with the real cake...what do u guys think...?

And what do u think of my first shot at this...any tips on how to make it better for saturday...?

Thanks,

Teneisha
