Hi all i used one material for making molds, there is a guy on u-tube that show's how, the one i used was very messy, and you had to work really quick, it did quite a few, i'm going to try the one he uses, other's have used it and like it, it's about $30.00, be sure and look down the page for the food safe material. i'll find out what the name of it is.

So where do you get this stuff and how much does this cost to make them?

Making your own is cheaper than buying them...
oh sorry that is the one, you can mix it with your hands, i think you can get a starter kit. with the one i did't like i made molds from stamp's but not the wooden one's well i had a few that were on clearance they are to expensive, but at michaels, they have an area away from the stamping materials, and there are bins of a type of hard foam stamps that work great and are really inexpensive like around a dollar, the dollar stores also have a few, but michaels has a ton of different things, plus a lot of us on cc, look around what we can use for mats, some have even used shower mats and other designs for cakes, you'd be suprised what you have around your house, i found this thing kitchen utinsel sp with a circle spiral springy looking thing lol and i just tapped it all around the cake and looked really good, of course you want food save things, some have used the bamboo looking place mats, and have pressed their fondant on it and makes a nice pattern, so maybe like me every time i look at something i go hmmmmm
I took a day long class with Chef Dominic Palazzolo from MakeYourOwnMolds.com and it was great. Just trying to finish up my page and I'll be posting some pictures of the molds. You can make a pearl mold for about $2 in materials. You can really go nuts with all the gorgeous molds out there and it would cost you a fortune, but once you know how to make them, there are very few limitations.
I love Dominic, he has such a great personality!
So it does not sound all that expensive to make your own... hmmmm maybe something I can do while I can't do much of anything else.... I have some awesome vintage lace that would make really pretty molds.... now ya got me thinkin Theresa....
