Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

You know... at my age you'd think I would learn a few lessons!  I was waiting for my steamer to warm up tonight so I could steam some flowers... it was not heating up as quickly as I wanted it to so you can guess where this is going!  I put my hand in front of the wand to see if any steam was coming out about that time a huge POOF of steam shot out and hit the backside of my hand.  I am now nursing a burn on the back of my hand and index finger... needless to say the blister on my finger keeps growing and growing.

I am so sorry for this unfortunate accident you had. I'll tell you what, I will learn from you and not do what you did even though I'm very very impatient.
I hope you feel better and perhaps you might want to see a doctor???
I put some aloe vera on it last night and it is fine today. Still red but the blister is gone.. how stupid can a person be????
Jeri ~ first of all, I hope you're feeling better and your hand gets back to normal quickly. Secondly, you're not stupid ~ we all do something we shouldn't do. For example, grab things while their hot and not even think about grabbing a towel or pot holder. I for one am good at that as I may have somewhat of what they call "asbestos" hands (can grab hot things without it affecting me). Well ~ I'm not superwoman and I too get burned, many times . . . LOL
i am such a chicken when it comes to anything hot. it's ridiculous to watch me try to remove a cookie sheet from the oven. you're not stupid, you're brave!
Jeri, I glad you are taking good care of yourself and things are looking a bit better. Please keep a close eye on that burn for infection even in the future because the skin will be tender for some time.
I'm not a nurse or doctor or any type of medical expert, just keep a close eye out on it.
oweeeeee Jeri...sending you good thoughts to help you heal faster, I have pulled a few good ones like this too!!! you are in good company!!!
Thanks everyone! Just really wanted to be sure that everyone pays attention to the label that says WARNING.... It really is there for a reason :-)
i am so sorry hope you feel better.
Hope you feel better! You sound like me. I'm a walking bruise machine.
OUCH!!!
Hope you feel better Jeri. Keep putting aloe vera on it and it should get better soon.
Today it has the ugly brown looking mark you get from a burn but does not hurt and will heal! I had a quote I used to share with the Varsity softball team when I was coaching a couple years ago... we had it put on the back of our shirts one year... "Skin Grows Back" guess I can listen to my own advice! I miss coaching!
