Just Want to AsK
I joined the group that is in my area, and ask to do this there so it could be in person, but no one is responsing (not allot of stuff is going on over there). I have noticed in some areas of the country the cakers and decorators seem to be a little more organized and have things like Cake Clubs. I would love to be in one of those, but I don't hear to much of that in my area, and it could just be that I don't know about it. I love this site and love the community we have here.
I was thinking we could have a Cake Club online. Once or twice a month we could all make a certain reciepe, or try a new technique and we can share what we did. We can share little pointers about things, share what we liked or didn't like. We already do that with things we do on our own, but this can be something we do together. We can post the pictures and comment on each others work.
It is just a thought, we can make it a group page and share on there. It is just a thought and maybe something that could be real fun to do...Instead of always doing stuff we have to do for other, it would be for ourselves and we can have fun with it and learn a few new things...
Whatever you guys decide will be okay.....

Gretchen...I think that is a wonderful idea. You could start a group on here maybe. That way it is not another place to have to go.... I know where I live there is nothing going on like that. There is over on the other side of the mountains but here where I am nothing.... Everything I do is right here with my cyber buddies!!!

Not excetlly.... As a group we would pick a reciepe or a certain technique, do it at the same time.....Then discuss things we did, or didn't do, maybe if someone found a trick. Show our work. It more like we do the same thing together.
Right now we are all doing our own things and discussing them. Do you understand the difference?

Would you set it up where we do it all at the same exact time or within a day or two? I work full time and am in a different time zone than a lot of you.

I think this is a cool idea!! If you do it, please let me know - I'd be very interested! I also do a weekly dessert special for my customers (since that's how I got started into this whole cake thing anyway!) so I may even let some of my clients get a free sample!

Great Idea Holly! Not many of us here in our area!!! I have people asking me to teach classes but I would not know where to start! I have been teaching my niece and she has caught on very quickly but has not made any investments in supplies so not sure how serious she is. She could do it if she wants to. I had 3 of our high school seniors talk to me about being their mentor for their senior projects next year and I was going to do one of them but now they have dropped the program and won't be doing them. It would be fun to teach but not sure about it.

I was thinking we could do it once or twice a month.... And that would give us at least a week or two to plan and create. I work full time also. I really only do things on the weekends.

I am so excited that you guys want to do this. I will set up a group page.... CWB Cake Club.... So once you see this join it and invite your friends. I am going to do some work(at my job), then try to set it up later today (Unless someone else wants to do it, I never did it before, but sure I can figure it out).
Does anyone have any ideas of what they would want to do? What to do first? I think we should just pick a cake reciepe (we can pick on for the reciepe section) and one technique to do on the cake.
Any sugguestions are always welcome.

Gretchen, this is a wonderful idea! Almost, kinda like a Wilton class where we learn things together! I love the idea. I'm in! Just say when. I live in a small town in AR and nothing like that really exists here. We have one big, well-known Cake Decorator here in town, but she doesn't really offer anything. It would be nice to meet up with locals that share the same love for cake decorating like I do, but unfortunately, not so much here. So this would be fun! Do it!!! :0)
