Teacher Appreciation Ideas?
I would like to donate a cake to my daughters' school for Teacher Appreciation week in May, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a design. I think apples, chalkboards and books are all overdone. Anyone have any other suggestions?? Looking forward to your ideas. :)

I work in a middle school and let me tell you our staff just loves any kind of treats! They are never picky. I make cake balls all the time and put them in the staff room and they are gone in no time... and the mini cupcakes they LOVE them. I have posted in my pics some cupcakes that I made for welcome back week at school they had the words, Inspire, Encourage, Teach on them with little book worms. I am sure I have them in my photo album. They were fun and everyone loved them.

I will be doing one for a customer it is titled Our teachers are out of this World. It is going to have aliens and planets and other stuff that you can think of for outer space.

That's a great idea Diane.
I'm leaning toward doing a heart cake stacked on a round cake that says "Our Teachers teach from the heart" and then make heart cutouts all around the bottom with the teachers' names on them (it's a small school). The large heart cake would have "Thank You" written on it. And there would be flowers on the top of the round around the heart. It makes more sense in my head than trying to describe it! LOL!

Sounds wonderful... I am glad you said it's a small school! We have 60 teachers at our school (750 kiddos) and I was trying to vision all those cookies! That sounds like a fantastic idea!

Go to the Wilton site and take a look at their cakes. Search for graduation cakes to see a lot of school-themed ideas. How big do you want it to be? I'm planning to combine the two things that I'm focusing on right now - cakes and cookie bouquets. I'm going to take the Wilton idea of their "Flowers for Mom" cake and make it smaller. The cake is a flower pot, and then you make cookie pops to be the flowers... they are so cute, and will be perfect for teacher appreciation. I'll post pictures when I get my sample made this week! :)
