Do you want a 3-D or flat cake?
I haven't given it much thought, as I was just asked about it today. I'm thining a flat, cut-out cake with buttercream - no fondant, since I've never really used it much, and still want to play with it. Maybe I can find a template and just trace it, and cut the cake around it? I teach highschool - maybe one of my kids will make me a template tomorrow... :) It's for a police officer. I found a GREAT 3D coffee cup with doughnuts, but they want a bike...

Thanks, y'all! :)

Jennifer, give more details on what your plan is...buttercream or fondant...as kim said 3-D or flat...is the bicycle the cake or do you just want bicycle accents? some more details and I am sure you will get endless ideas!!
If you can find a good graphic online, you can always print it out and then blow it up as big as you need it on a copy machine. I would recommend printing it on cardstock if you can as it makes a more stable template. Good luck!!
i will ask them is he is assigned to a bike division, if thats correct you might find a pic of his unit and make a bicycle alike. or maybe if is a hobby the can send you an email of the bicycle. good luck
I finished the bicycle cake! In the end, I traced a bike from an overhead transparency onto cardstock, laid it on the cake, and traced it again. Then I made the cake with black and "police blue" icing. She wanted "Happy Birthday Office Dano!" So I wrote that in blue, and outlined his name in black. Then I put blue dropstars around the top and bottom. I thought it looked very "police-y", since it was just white, blue and black. I'll post pictures as soon as I deliver it. I don't like to post pictures until the person who ordered it has a chance to see it. Thanks for all of the advice!
