Hi Rach
I havn't made ballet slippers but here are a couple of helps

No worries Sherry, thanks
Ooooh - thank you for posting this! I have the same request for a cake in April. :) Can you tell me where to find the pattern for the shoe so I can print it out?
You are just so talented and make things look easy! Thanks for sharing.
I also own a dance studio and have done point shoes and ballet shoes in gumpaste. I actually purchased the smallest ballet shoe I could at Payless (they are cheap there). Stuff the shoe with something to keep it's shape (I used plastic wrap balled up). Then with a bit of shortening cover the entire top of the shoe. Roll out your gumpaste and lay it on top of the shoe, then cut the gumpaste a 1/2 an inch from the point where it touches the table. And then cut out where the actual opening of the shoe is. Let it sit to dry enough to hold the shape of the shoe. Then remove from the shoe and fold under the excess. Put a gumpaste ribbon for the elastic. Roll out some beige gumpaste and press the bottom of the real shoe firmly onto it to make an impression, then cut it out and adhear to the bottom of the gumpaste shoe. Pipe a royal icing bow at the top of the shoe.
Rach, I have made ballet slippers, but only tiny ones used to decorate the tops of cupcakes.
I actually used a shoe/slipper candy mold. Here is a photo of what I came up with maybe you can do this on a bigger scale! Good luck!
okay, so I can't get the photos to upload!! So go to my blog at www.mynewcakehobby.blogspot.com you have to go to older posts and you will see a photo of just the slippers and one of the actual cupcakes. I do wirte how i do what i do with each crazy creation!
Hope this helps!
