Does anynone here provide training in cake decorating techniques... and if yes...would you travel overseas to offer same training?

Do you mean teach classes? And, where overseas? The cost would be high.
Most teachers charge by the class time - something like $50-100 per hr plus the students would then need to bring equipment to the class which the teacher would provide a list of. Also, most traveling teachers require the host to provide her/him with seeping arrangements & some, if not all meals.
What are you looking for in training? Much can be learned viewing videos on YouTube and other internet sources.
Thanks for the reply everyone....

I just wnated to see what the market is like. For me, i don't believe that there is a great programme here in Jamaica....and i was thinking of a customized workshop. Clearly i would have to ascertain the cost and determine if the participants would be able to afford it...

I was enrolled in a school and i stopped....it was horrible...the training facility was a mess...it was so blah...lol...

I've been meaning to Travel to the Institute of Culinary Education but i am awaiting acceptance to post grad studies. I can't find a great place to get the training i belive i need. There are good decorators here in Jamaica..i just need to find them i guess...

Thanks again.
Thank you...

Well, good luck!! I hope you find something that fits your needs. =)
I have never taken a class and been at this for 30+ years. When I first started I would buy the Wilton Year books and teach myself everything I could... then the internet..... wow... the knowledge that is available. I'd say go for it on your own... learn from those who have been at it for a long time and are willing to share. 2 DVD's that I would recommend to any beginner are Sharon Zambito's Perfecting the Art of Buttercream and the other is her Flawless Fondant DVD. Those two give you the basics of starting out... You Tube has tons of tutorials. And be sure if you want to learn flowers... Edna from Design Me A Cake (she is on here) Her DVD's are super. And she is always so sweet to share her knowledge. Good Luck and whatever you do... jump in and get your feet wet! I like buying the DVD's because I can refer to them anytime I want to!
There are some peole who simply cannot learn on their own. I was one. For yrs I wanted to learn but reading the books made NO sense to me at all. I wasn't until I took basic classes that I was able to understand written direction.
I agree w/Sharon's DVDs and Edna's YouTube videos. One problem w/learning from YouTube is some of the videeos are not the best and give info that is somewhat misleading. Yes, we all develope different ways to do certain things but for a beginner many times hands-on will make it much easier to understand and come out with a great cake/design.
