Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I was asked to make some baby cupcakes (similar to the Diva Purse Cakes) , for the same lady actually, in a similar 3D type style. BUT, they need to last overnight and the drive of several hours. I know with fondant if it sits on Buttercream for too long would start to take moisture and droop a little. If I used Royal Icing, would that work better? I prefer to mold little shapes out of fondant, but I can't have her arrive to the baby shower with droopy decorations. :-(
I guess I could do detailed flat/2D designs too as a last resort.

Anytime you put sugar and moisture together you will get melting...Sugar is hygroscopic which means it attracts moisture. You can make Royal icing but wait to place them until you get to the venue. Many decorators do last minute work where they deliver their cakes. You may want to make your shapes out of fondant and do the same.
Which I usually do, but as I mentioned, I can't, she's taking them out of state, and needs them night before. Not much I can do about that.

What about modeling chocolate? I've never used it, but how does it hold up?
Modeling chocolate is like a tootsie roll....you know alot of people have used sugar cubes under their fondant and royal icing decorations to prop them up off the icing...maybe you can try that....they sell them at the grocery stores where the bags of sugar are.... I think Domino is the brand
hmmm thats a thought. thx
