thank you Les ! yes been rainy here for days no blue sky or over a wk , ; (( its very cold now in the lower 30's i am sorry or all the ones with no electricity  ; ( east has never had a storm this bad , so they are like , chickens with there heads cut off , going crazy , not many prepared or this ! ; ((

we still havent heard from Iris ? pray she is ok !

That area where iris lives got hit pretty hard Gail. Did some searching. I am assuming she has no electricity. No electricity, no internet.  Let's pray she and others are all getting help. My goodness, some in the path lost their homes, lost everything. I cannot imagine. And your right, they are not use to having those kind of storms. Certainly not in NY and NY city.

THE WEATHER IS CHANGING SO MUCH ALL OVER !!! , WE ALL NEED TO RETHINK OUR SURVIVIAL  stock up and be prepared ! we have been doing it or yr's ! no one has ever seen this in the northeast! its time or them to wake up and see the change ! and be prepaired ! now the had a touch o whats to come ! and be sure it will !

Well Gail

Because my husband use to work for Environment Canada, he is convinced, as am I, this is being caused my global warming. We all HAVE to change our ways. Too much polution, in North America, and world wide. The governments have to force change through new laws. People are selfish, we won't change until were forced to.

 and all the stuff that we use and do now a days was appoved by the goverment   as growth ! ! they gave it  all the ok to go with growth ! ,and now they blame us for it all the mess , ! ,forcing every one to give up the rites as we know them ,or knew them , makes people mad and selfish !

You're right Gail. The government here and where you are have allowed "BIG BUSINESS"...... factories, car makers...etc., etc. to get away for years without them being responsible for the polution they cause. As everyday citizens, we have to make a effort too.  But we have to FORCE large corporations to change. Trouble is, most of them back the political candidates with big $$$$$, SOooooo there are in the politicians back pocket!!

yup ! its all about the money or them < do you think they realy care about us and the polution ? no way as long as there pockets are full we can go suck a rock , ; {

Hi Everyone, I live in northwestern NJ.  Compared to the coast we are blessed.  We still have not power but as you all have mentioned weather has been changing and we have never had to deal with the extremes other areas of the country have to deal with.  Last year when Irene hit it was an exteme for us in this area, August was so wet that the ground couldn't handle the rain from the storm.  As you said we in NJ were not prepared.  So many people started making changes as we did to deal with any future rain storms.  Then low and behold October came around and another freaky storm, heavy snow in Oct while all the leaves were still on the trees.  No power for millions due to downed trees.  Well the answer to that was underground wires.  For us the answer was a gas powered generator.  Well now here comes Sandy and all that underground wiring has been useless.  For us the gas powered generator has been a blessing but getting gas from stations that have no power to pump gas has been a joy.  We are lucky to be close enough to the end of the problem to drive into PA to get gas.  I'm not going to complain about only having power in part of the house and only heat in some rooms.  But no oven is making me crazy.  Kind of hard to prepare for the unimaginable.  I wish I could figure out what mother nature has in store for us next so we can get ready. Supposed to make 2 cakes for this weekend for my nephew and granddaughters birthday but I haven't figured out how to bake on the grill.

Thanks for all the nice words from all over the world.

Love from NJ

Sandi (boy and I taking abuse, thinking about changing my name)

So glad you survived the storm. You say you have power in a few rooms. Do you have a crock pot? You can bake a cake in one. My Mom use to do it. Perhaps you could google the instructions. :0)
