Southern Cookie Fest

The first ever Southern Cookie Fest will be held September 29-30, 2012 in beautiful Ocala, FL. The event will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott where we have reserved a block of rooms and intend to party-down like Southern Girls can.

This event is packed solid with 9…yes count ‘em NINE hands-on workshops featuring Cookie Crazie Pam Sneed, our own PHD Melanie Judge, cookie artist “Linedancer” Carole Firstenberger, beautiful Sugarveil techniques by Lisa Menz and a special presentation from our sponsor, Photofrost!!

Topics and Techniques by this great group includes a variety of mediums but not limited to Glaze, Royal Icing, Fondant, wafer paper and Edible Images and more…

Melanie Judge will show how to Go Beyond the Cookie Cutter to take your cookies to the next level & Wedding Cake-Shaped Cookies 10 Ways by using the 3-tier cutter to create drastically different designs for showers, weddings and birthdays.

Cookie Platter Chatter by Jane Koon with suggestions on making your cookie platters pretty

Each hands-on class features techniques and design ideas along with recipes and instruction sheets that will be included in your workbook. After each class you will have time to ask questions and take notes.
No separate sessions, everyone is on the same class. All sessions include hands-on for certain techniques.

Eat a good breakfast Saturday..In addition to the classes, we will also have a couple of contests.
Bring your “best, most awesome decorated cookie” to enter in our Best Decorated Cookie Contest. Entry must be wrapped with clear wrapping material. This must be your own original work, you may enter up to 3 cookies.

Saturday afternoon we will have a “Who has the best Design Contest”. We will break into groups lead by our guest instructors who will each have their own team cookie to design.

After the Designers complete their projects we will adjourn for the day then meet at a local restaurant for dinner and an Evening of Sharing. Bring your Show n Tell and please submit a pattern, recipe or technique for everyone.

Registration is coordinated thru our host, the Ocala Cake Club
Cost is $150 per person if paid by September 1, 2011. If paid after, $175 per person.
Lunch(es) will be provided at the hotel and is included in the Registration fee.

Room rate at Courtyard by Marriott is $84/nite for King or Double/Double, (rate does NOT include taxes at 8%). We have reserved a block of rooms for Fri & Sat at this rate.
