Ebony try some gel or paste food color...Wilton makes it and you can get it at Walmart in the craft section or Michael's craft stores. It is much thicker than liquid food coloring and more concentrated.
Those aren't natural. I'm doing all natural foods etc.

If you are doing all natural foods then red and black will be really hard to get since those arent natural colors....unless you crush flowers and then extract with alcohol...or buy mineral pigments but then they wont be edible....red from beets, blues from berries, yellows from flowers and vegetables....look into natural cloth dyes...they make vegetable dyes...perhaps you can use them for cakes. What are you using for red and black now? You mentioned getting pink and purple instead of red and black.

You wont get the same prices for natural colors as for synthetc colors....you will just have to pay more....all I did was do a search for natural food colors...
Once you find those elments always will be diffulity... It is best way to stick with what we have to meet real colors as costmers request... Best way to tell costmers HONESTY and explain about hard to find natural food colors.. so If you planning to use Non natural food colors on gum paste flowers,,, let them to know which flowers cant be eat.. so they will know this in advance.

I'm making a cake for my baby. I wanted red white blue and yellow. The blue looks purple and the red looks pink. I think maybe I needed more color. They are vegetable colors. We colored water to freeze for fun today and the colors were perfect so I'm thinking I just need more drops.
