I need to put a Scottish Thistle on a Scottish 4 tiered wedding cake I am making in October.  I am wondering if anyone has made this flower before in gumpaste, royal or any other edible medium.  Any…Continue

Why wedding cakes cost so much

Posted on May 25, 2010 at 2:36pm 13 Comments

As a long time baker who worked in corporate and private bakeries while in college, I was making not purchasing the products and hadn't really considered this concept before, after all, your typical college slave labor is making not much over minimum wage anyway, irregardless of what the bakery is getting paid for your labors. Having raised 6 daughters, I had to purchase 3 wedding cakes over the years as I…

Hello again - I went through your photos and added the ones that were eligible.  The rules state to enter your "cakes decorated with gumpaste flowers" so we're looking for photos of cakes, not just the flowers.  Any that weren't eligible I noted as such in the title.  Also - you had entered 3 photos of the same cake so I chose the first photo since it showed the most and labeled the other two as duplicates. This just helps us keep track so we know we've looked at them.  Thanks! And good luck!

Hi Lisa - I see you added a lot of photos with gumpaste flowers, but none are labeled for the contest.  Did you want to enter?  Could you indicate which ones you'd like to enter by including the words Gumpaste Flowers Contest in the titles? Thanks!

thanks. Yes Hobby Lobby is online, but they probably have them at Joann's or Michael's too. Hope you can find them.
That is so sad. My niece also lost a baby at 15 weeks old about 3 1/2 years ago right around Christmas, and my daughter and her sister were pregnant at the same time she was. It was really hard for her to be around any of them. They were due within 2 weeks of each other. She has 2 more little girls now. But it is still hard especially around the holidays

oh I forgot to tell you. I added the crown and the tongue to it, hand molded them.

it is a candy mold I got at Hobby lobby. there are 3 different designs on it. I think it has a lady bug, a butterfly and the frogs. My son's email and nickname was frogkingbob. Hence the name frogking. I buy everything I see with frogs on it. He passed away in 2008.
I made the frogs for my grandson's 3rd birthday cake last nov and he still talks about the froggy cake.
