I've been doing custom cakes and cake pops (sculpted, painted, etc) for friends and family for quite a while. In the fall I opened a bakery, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to price them. I try to estimate the time (which is always off!), and base it on $25 an hour (which is really low). There's no one else within half an hour that does custom cake, but the price still seems to come out high. Does anyone have way to price custom cakes?

Try CakeBoss he has a very good article on how to price your cakes
http://cakeboss.com/Default.aspx here is the link to the Cakeboss calculator software (I dont hink this has anything to do with Buddy) This programme is for sale on the site, but there is also alot of useful information on thier page too. The last time I looked there was a try it for free sample programme. Looks like they have now started to do a 30 day free trial. It was pretty good when I tried it and I know I'd been undercharging and forgetting to charge for somethings. It might just help to see a list of things you should be considering. If you are any good at Excel you could probably do something similar.
Cakeboss is a wonderful tool and well worth the money. It is not connected with Buddy
