With all of this talk about fruit cake, now I am in the mood to bake one! But I have never made a traditional European fruit cake. They have all been American, so anybody want to share there best of the best fruit cake recipe with me? I want the old traditional Christmas recipe that is soaked in brandy and covered in the marzipan. My dad's grandma came from England, so it will be just him, my sister and me eating it (and maybe a few brave ones that will try it-most hate it)! But that is okay...I love reviving traditions.

Well Linda

I have my great -grandma's ( my Mom's Mom) recipe. As I said to Amanda, she wrapped her cake in cheese cloth soaked in apple juice, as we were a "dry" house.  I would have used dark rum.  I can scan & email the recipe to you, Ok?

Thank you June! I would love it!
