i am make ing a wedding cake this week and the bride needs enough for 80 guests what size of pans should i use she wants three tiers, round cake pans please help asap
I would go 14", 10" and 6". Is the bride saving the top tier for her anniversary? If so you shouldn't count it in the servings. Is it to be served after a full meal? If so the portions would be smaller than if for a "cake and punch" reception where the cake is the main service. There's a great portion chart on the forums here, or you can go to:
OH! And I just looked at your profile and you live in the same town in Oregon as my brother. Small world! I spent a good portion of my life in Sublimity.
Eileen is right. Those sizes would be good. Just did wedding for 60. The bride cake was 8" and 12" square and the grooms cake was a 12" square. There was still a good amount of cake left over. I had a slice of each. lol
