Hello! My cake business is growing. And i wanted to know if anyone here ever had a cake tasting party and if so did you charge people to attend?????? please help, im trying to get some ideas. THANKS IN ADVANCE....

I have tasting parties often, for my catering business.  I do not charge.  I know some do, I think it's bad form.  I mark it as advertising expenses. 

 

I make cards for guests to fill in anonymously and give me their reviews.  I have specific questions asked on each card and then a couple of lines for their random thoughts.

 

I only invite people I know will tell me the truth no matter what.

Your confidence will come with time, and in the meantime, have you thought about taking a business class or two? That can definitely help you feel more prepared, at least on the business side of things which believe it or not, if you work alone like I do, will take up more time and require just as much attention as the cake decorating side, especially in the beginning.

Hi Maridsa, I had a cake biz from home from 1991 - 1999. It took over my entire life. Because I was always there I'd just keep on working. I started slow, word of mouth. Later I'd do minimal advertising. Don't take on too much and you'll be able to do good quality work and will be able to work your way up to taking on more orders. You'll do great!
