Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello all you wonderful, helpful cake creators!! :)

I am wanting to do a gift box cake and am unsure exactly how to do it. I want it make a square cake with a "lid" that is a little off-set and lifted on one side with flowers coming out.... does that make sense?

I am unsure how to make the lid stay in place. I was thinking dowels to hold the one side slightly open since they will be hidden with flowers, but not sure how to make it so it doesn't fall off.  Anyone have any helpful advise? Thanks!!!!

Thanks so much for the link Sherry!!

I noticed she used styrofoam for the lid, do you think it would work for me to use a single layer cake? It is only going to be a 6in square, so not very big...
I want to do it similar to this http://allrecipes.com/Cook/Photo.aspx?photoID=261752
I think you can use a cake, I would prop it up with a fondant covered styrofoam wedge and the decorate to cover the wedge portion showing. Make sure you have a cake board under the cake for the lid. But you could use dowels as well.
