Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

A few weeks ago my instructor mentioned that at tag sales you can find old Wilton books, cake decorating books, pans, etc.  Today I was driving by the "bi-yearly" tag sale at our local community center and found a beautiful silver plate that would be awesome to display a cake on.  The price was only $2!!!  The feet underneath is about 1" high so it sets up off the table.  I have to give it a good cleaning but I was so excited that I wanted to share it with all of you.  You may find it a little hard to see but it has such beautiful detailing work that I couldn't walk by it.

Nice find!
score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And to think it was gold after I cleaned it!
Fantastic. Thanks for posting this, it brought to mind a silver tray that we got as a wedding gift 27 years ago. I never used it and it sat in the original box for at least 20 years before i got it out and finally displayed it in my home. I had never thought of using it as a cake stand until now! And I have another one I bought at a thrift store for $1.00. It has candles on it in my living room now but you can bet it will have a cake sitting on it sometime in the future! Thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful find!
Garage, community sales and flea markets are great places to find very nice plates at great prices. My husbands surprises me at times with great finds for my cakes. I work weekends so he goes bargain hunting on weekends with the babies.
Wonderful! I love bargins!
