Whipped icing from Supercenters
I was wondering if any body might be able to tell me how to make the whipped icing that the bakeries in the supercenter grocery stores use. I've tried the Wilton whipped icing, it tastes very good, but I cant get it whipped (thick) enough. Probably because I only have a hand mixer, I cant wait till I am able to get a Kitchen Aid. I was wondering if that type of whipped icing is something can be bought it bulk maybe, & where. I just love the taste of that icing & would love to be able to start practicing with it. Thank you for any information

Thank you Sherry, I will have to try this. Would the cake need to be refrigerated after icing with the whipping cream being in it? I also want to try the recipe I found on here earlier using the powdered dream whip

After doing a little googling...I have discovered...Walmart apparently uses something called Rich's Bettercreme...it is available at Smart and Final and Sam's Club (which is a brother company to Walmart) you can also buy it online.
But here is a whipped frosting I found, not bettercreme, but could be worth a try
Buttercream Frosting
1 pound butter at room temperature
powdered sugar
1 1/2 t vanilla (regular or white/clear vanilla for "whiter" color)
1/3 c whipping cream (appx)
Cream butter in mixer; slowly add powder sugar a couple cups at a time. Add vanilla and whipping cream; mix well.
Add additonal powdered sugar until you have the consistency you want.

If you like the purchased buttercream you might try Dixies. She will send a sample pack to try. It is not bad but I don't like it under fondant. She even makes the icing to use on icecream cakes!

Sherry, Thank you soo much, I finally got to play with the bettercream. I really like it, however i did whip it just a little too long, but I really like the way my practice cake turned out.

Thats where I found it here in TN, we do have it at our Sam's but I dont have a card, but a friend I work with does, so if I have need of the 5 gallon bucket I can get it there
