I need to know how do you properly ship a cake?....Any advice would help, Thanks!

There are several conversations regarding this in the forums. I think the general consensus is that it is extremely hard to ship a cake.
I know someone who ships quite often successfully. She ships UPS ground. Fondant, of course.
Now, I shipped overnight, and it imploded. I'm going to try ground next time.

The best advice I've heard is to put it in a window cake box so the shipper can SEE what's inside. They tend to handle it more gently that way. There's a blog somewhere about this woman who mails cakes to her niece (?) every year via the post office, in a window cake box, and they always arrive intact.
