**News From Provo Craft regarding Licenses** PLEASE READ**
Thought you would all like to know.
The bakery industry has been used to paying licensing fees for many years – it is a form of paying royalties to the creator of images when we all clearly benefit from their work. When Provo Craft approached us in the very beginning about testing the Cricut Cake, we asked about licensing. They explained the Angel Policy and that it basically allowed for 200 cakes a year using the same design elements. We mentioned that for use in mass production (i.e. cupcakes, cookies, etc) this would not be feasible and the baking industry would need more than that. They promised that they would eventually come out with an affordable professional license. It is the existence of this license, a license we retail bakers essentially asked for, that now got them into a lot of hot water with every one.
We received a call this morning from our contact at Provo Craft. He asked us to relay to the industry as a whole that the Angel Policy on Provo Craft content would be suspended for the creation of cakes. This means that anyone can use any of the cartridges, with the exception of third-party licenses such as Disney, to make as many cakes as they want and sell them wherever they want. Provo Craft said they will announce the news some time today.

Provo Craft has always been one of the best companies in the paper craft industry and it does NOT surprise me one bit that they would carry over their wonderful and generous policy to the baking industry.
I must say, for years and years I've been purchasing Provo Craft items just because they stand behind their products and have a great policy. A wonderful Company!

Wow ~ I wonder if it had to do with the call I had put in??? I work for the CT Attorney General's Office and asked one of our investigators to put in a call and find out what the deal was.

This is different from the email I got from Provo Craft this morning... I am going to cancel my order. I will not pay extra for a lisence. Here is the email I got... copied and pasted here:

What time did you get that email? I am trying to see what is going on. The information I recieved was from a very very high up with Provo Craft. Sometimes it might take time to get to the people who are paid to just answer emails. I will contact my contact and see what happened.

I have a call in to him and will let you know. But I am sure that there was a misunderstanding with that employee. We have 38 employees and when we changed our hours, we had a meeting to let everyone know. I still had sales people, who were in the meeting, telling people we closed at the old time. You have to remember that although it is a company, they have humans working at it. :)

This is what I was trying to say yesterday. When our Office called them, we speak to the person in charge of the company and they told our investigator that they were working on licensing each cartridge separately. For example, they may range from very expensive to least expensive. But that is what they were working on due to all the phone calls they were getting from the consumers.
Jeri ~ it sounds like you received the message that was told our Office. I may be one that will also be canceling.

What was the persons name that said they were in charge of the company and told you that info. I saw jerri's came from Erica. I need to know so if it is an employee problem, they can correct that. Thanks.
