I would think that by the tim you add PS to store bought icing you will still have a mess to clean up. Some purchase BC from Sam's or Costco. You might try that and then you won't have any mess.
You can buy a decorator pre made frosting. My friend Mary Lou sells a bucket of icing that is pretty good in a pinch. It's all she ever uses...and I think if you stirred in a little almond flavoring you would never know that it isnt' homemade. I prefer a good homemade buttercream with real butter myself but since you are in a hurry....buy canned icing, beat some shortening and powder sugar into it. The shortening will add the body that you need for decorating so it will hold the shape. Beat about 1/2 cup shortening in a bowl with a little almond or other strong flavoring, add about 1-1/12 cups powder sugar to that and then beat in your canned frosting. The added shortening should give it enough of a decorator consistency....add more powder sugar if it's too soft..butter if it's too thick...don't add water or milk to soften it because of the corn syrup in the canned frosting...it will make it extremely sticky Good luck!
