Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi i've just joined this site.  I'm kinda new in this cake decorating business, so I'm still feeling my way through.  I have an order for a cake cake (an audi) next month to serve 40.  I'm just wondering how much cake to bake??  I've got a 13"x11" tin so i was thinking bake 2 batches in that tin?  And i guess its just a matter of carving the cake to get the desired shape?    Any help/hints would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Jhoanee

I have a car cake in my album that I made for my brother last summer. I made the car out of a bread pan and put it on top of a 10" square pan. It worked really well and served around 50 I believe. The bread pan is super easy to carve the cake shape out of.

great cake! i wish it was that simple :( but the lady wants the whole cake shaped like a cake
You will need to make your cake high enough to carve it. I am sure you could use the pan you have to make it work. I found that making the tires ahead of time and allowing them to dry they turned out better.
Thanks jeri!
