I have used UNsweetend cherry Kool-Aid to make cherry cake.  I use a whole packet of the kool-aid but you can add a few tables to the whole packet...which ever one desires.  The same goes for make a flavored buttercream.  You can get some unique flavors using Kool-Aid.

Also, you can marble different mixes together (lemon & white, strawberry & white, etc).

Here is my recipe for the cherry cake (I think I got it off the Pillsbury website)

1 box white cake mix w/pudding

1 packet .14 oz of cherry or black cherry unsweented kool-aid

1 1/4 cup water

1/3 veg oil

1 tsp almond extract - optional

3 egg whites

mini choc chips optional
