fondant/gumpaste query
I made a fondant/gumpaste shoe this past Monday. It is a 50/50 of both F & GP. It is Wed and it is not completely dry. It has been rainy/damp here last 2 days. I have to place the shoe on a cake this Saturday. Any suggestions on how I can get it dry/hard? Hopefully without damage??

I would place it in your oven, with just the light on. Put it on a cookie sheet. The heat from the light of the oven with keep the humidity at bay and dry the shoe. Keep it there until ready to put on the cake...Just don't forget to remove it if you bake :D!!!!!

No unfortuneately, I do not have a dehumidifier.

I saw a few comments about leaving it inthe oven with the light on. Problem is I just got a brand new stove a week ago. It is an induction oven and all "digital". I can turn on the oven light, but it seems to be on a timer. It stays on for only so long, then automatically shuts off. Technology is great, eh!!
Anyway, did mange to remove saran from inside the shoe, and moved it. Still ever so slightly soft in a few areas, but think I will be ok by saturday aft when I will be placing it on the cake.

June, I use a small clip on fan attached to my table. Also, if I can, I place the items on a cooling rack. Jeri C uses a splatter screen. This will allow air flow around the item completely.

Those were both good tips. I actually read your answer at 7am this morning. I went down right away and gently put my fondant shoe on the splatter mat before I went to work. It is now 6.30ish pm and I am very pleased how much more dry it has become.
I will look into the fan tho.
