Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

So, I know that I need a certain type of ribbon for use on a buttercream cake.   I am just wondering what that kind of ribbon is called!   PLease help!  Thanks!

Maybe you need a crusting buttercream? I've also read that some grease their ribbon prior to putting it on the cake.
I plan on using a crusting buttercream, thank you Cat for your suggestions!!
You can spray your ribbons with PAM cooking spray and they absorb the oil and don't have that splotched look when they absorb the grease from the cake. The ribbons will be a bit darker if you do that though. I don't do a lot of all buttercream cakes but that is what I have done with ribbons on buttercream.
The video is nice, except I don't like the idea of putting floral pins in it.
What does a roll of floral ribbon usually run? More or less than $5 and for how much?
Thanks for all the input guys! I wonder, do you have to go around twice if your ribbon is a dark color, not see through like the gold in the video?
How about ironing parchment onto some satin or grosgrain ribbon? Cut a strip that fits within the ribbon width and iron the shiny side towards the ribbon. You can also line the ribbon with tape.

Yeah! I thought of that too. Great! Can't afford the fancy ribbon.
