Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi All,

My husband has requested a basketball shoe box cake for his birthday this weekend - and I was curious to know what size cake pan some of you who have done this type of cake before use for this style of cake?

Also, if you can give me an idea of how many layers you have done as well??  I appreciate any help or insight you lovely cakers can provide!

Sunny smiles from the Cayman Islands!

Hi Faith,
Is it a closed or open shoe box and how many servings?
Also shoe boxes are different sizes so knowing the type or better yet having one to measure fo excact scale up or down is helpful.

Its a closed shoe box for about 30 people, but I'm doing it for 50 servings because people here love their sweets and don't believe in small 2x1 slices :). LOL.

I was thinking about stacking some 9x13 sheet cakes, but wasn't sure if this was the size pan to use or not.

I'll be cheking out that website - many thanks Neryl!
This is a great Blog and I am following it as a blogger myself. Thanks for sharing this blog and the shoe box tutorial is super, it looks easy to do - well, I don't know how easy this really is but it does inspire a person to try it out because the instructions are great to follow.
