Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Okay I was given the courage to attempt a sculpted cake but the cake I made wasn't the tastiest ever! so does anyone out there have a great tasting recipe for a cake that can withstand sculpting and being covered with modeling chocolate that they are willing to share.  I would really appreciate it.  I want my grandbabies to love the cakes I make but also to be able to eat them!!!  LOL

I would suggest using a pound cake recipe. They tend to stand up better for sculpting. If you would like the one I use I'll send it to you.

Betty, yes I would love to have the recipe if you don't mind sharing it.  How do you want to send it to me?  Thank you very much.

Our own Linda Wolff posted a delicious recipe here on cwb.  Here is the link:  http://www.cakeswebake.com/profiles/blogs/triple-chocolate-cappucci...

I've made it and really like the flavor.

I've also made this one and everyone liked it too:  http://cakecentral.com/a/cream-cheese-pound-cake-2

This one is also very tasty:  http://www.oprah.com/food/Lemon-Sour-Cream-Pound-Cake

Hi Sandy! You can try Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate cake www.herseys.com

It tastes very good! That's what I used for my Doll Cake.Pls. check my Facebook page: RC cakes. In case you need to sculp other figures wich should be hard and stable, use Rice Krispies Treat.

Thanks girls for the great sounding recipes not sure which one to use.  But you can be sure I will try one of them maybe all!  Thanks again.

Sandy,

I have several recipes on my blog on here.  I have used them for carving (except the carrot cake) and they work great.  I always pop them in the cooler for a bit before carving too.  And the ganache holds up really well for carving!

Good Luck!

Hi everyone new to this site I love it just wanted to say hi sandie
