Hi Kim:

I think you can use the fondant by itself...just make sure it's properly dried...so start working on it like now...:)
Heck, you should watch these videos that have been posted on this site. By the way, I used Marshmallow Fondant and they came out great. I didn't add anything additional ingredient to my MMF recipe. I like MMF more so for the great taste. I had them set out and dry and it worked great and taste great!!!!

and I believe MMF dries faster than store bought fondant...I read that somewhere on this site...:)...
It's my understand that a pure fondant bow will NEVER dry properly. It will crack and go wimpy on you. You really need gumpaste or add tylose to your fondant.
ohh Deah don't say that..this is my first job i want to make a good impression...:(

But Thanks TenTen i would hold on to your advice, i plan to wake at dawn and do all the mixing put to dry n assembly on Monday morning!

& thanks Stampinsher for the videos
I think fondant is fine. Just let it dry as long as possible and wait until the last minute to put it on the cake. I have noticed that moisture from the buttercream can soften the fondant some. Check youtube too, they've been helpful.
is there a michaels close to you ? i got gumtex there .... when i made my shoe i used 50/50 fondant/gumpaste .... when i used all fondant it cracked =-/ but they say to make both batches, then mix them together, and place them in an air tight container ( i wrapped in saran wrap, and then put a slightly damp washcloth ) and let it set overnight to 'setup' .... dont know how true that part is, but i was running out of time and had spent 2 days with fondant woes so i did it that way. i was please at how easy things went with the 50/50 mixture.

good luck
i hope your cakes turns out great =-)

Use fondant make the loops and hang them to dry. Use pvc pipe or something similar and wrap foam around the pipe hang the bow loops around the pipe pinch the ends together use a drop of water and let them dry as long as you can before you use them. The loops will keep their shape. When you place them on the cake roll out the middle part of the loop and put it over the 2 loops then roll out the rest of the bow and place on the cake under the loops.
simple bands up the side into a bow on the top... i thought i could manage it as it's my first cake for an order
