Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have started to search for printers for cake decorating, here on CWB there is a discussion about this, however that was a year ago, and since then some printers mentioned are not available.  So, i would like to know if anyone has updates on newer printers for cake decorating purposes, good deals, sales and also on their inks and ink refills etc....

I bought a canon ip3600 this year to dedicate to this task. It was only $AU79 and I have to say I am really pleased with the way it performs. What I would suggest is that you go to icing images, photo frost, or any of those sites that sell edible printing cartridges and they will have the most up to date information.
I did a lot of research before I bought my printer and it came down to two brands. Epson and Canon. The thing that you need is the rear tray feed. The frosting sheet doesn't travel at an awkward angle through the printer; it basically just slides in from the top and through. Then you need to see what printing cartridges are available.

Photofrost have a table listing printers that are supported. http://www.photofrost.com/CartridgeChart.php
Kopykake has a downloadable chart http://www.kopykake.com/edible-ink-and-refill-kits.html
icing Images has a drop down menu http://www.icingimages.com/systems.php?link=3&info=e67687f5e617...

thanks much bettina, this really helps
