I had so many little details on my Steampunk "Venus De Milo" statue cake that I thought I'd take a few macro shots and post them in a note so I didn't have a zillion photos of the same cake in my album...
I wanted to enter a steampunk cake decorating competition and I have to say I am very blessed to have people trust me so completely with their cakes! I knew I wouldn't have time to make a seperate entry so I just basically asked if I could steampunk someone's cake that I was already working on and they graciously agreed and were excited to see the final results. I generally exercise a lot of creative freedom with my cake designs and it's not unusual for people to have no idea what I am doing to their cake until I am done, but this was a really extreme case even for me so I am very thankful and relieved that they were happy with the results.
Anyhoo, Here's a few extra shots! :-)
Venus's face close up
close-up of the cogs & gears in her stomache
another close-up
close-up of the crooked stacked cake
some of the gears and nutts & bolts
I added a few gears on wires to make is a little more fun :-)
close-up of the wheel & key
...and lastly here's me with the cake so you can see how tall it really was!
