Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

It took a few months of planning, getting in the supplies and making clear in my head the design of the cake. It came down to last Friday (28th January) to make the arch. It took me nearly all day purely to allow things to dry before moving onto the next step. Thankfully got that completed before my daughter came home from nursery.

Monday 1st February, 2 days till her birthday. I make the chocolate cake only to realise after levelling it, it wasn't deep enough. Unfortunately it was about 10pm at night, not enough time to make another and to cool it down before going to bed. (I work Mondays to Wednesdays!) So as soon as I came in from work on Tuesday 2nd I put the cake straight in the oven. Luckily it cooled down quick enough so that I could cover it in fondant.

Wednesday 3rd February, my daughter's birthday, I took her to nursery and came back and done all the decoration on the cake. It took me 3 hours. Was very pleased with the results.

My daughter absolutely loved it and so did everyone else.

It came out great! It was worth the aggravation! If you torte each cake layer and fill it, it will give you more height.
