Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Getting ready to design the four seasons cakes for display at our annual Peach Days Celebration here in LaVerkin, Utah. Doing four seperate cakes, Spring, Summer, Winter & Fall. These will be mock wedding cakes & we are making cupcakes for tasting!! Should be fun but lots of work, have any suggestions for color schemes or what the best material for mock cakes besides styrofoam might be!!!!

I don't know how long they have to last, but I have found that making them out of rice krispy treats press tightly into pans works out great if they are not for an eternity. I also use this for bottom tiers of wedding cakes for people who want larger cakes but without the extra cake. The kids love the rice krispy treats and since we use them alot to form animals and what not that we cover in modeling chocolate we are familiar with working with them.
