This weekend I completed my first cake for someone other than myself or family. A co-worker's wife was throwing a baby shower and wanted a ladybug cake covered in fondant. Not sure how my name came up to do it but it did - and I did it. I've never done anything that big before and was not sure I could pull it off. But thanks to information & advice from this site (as well as my super 'pit crew' who helped keep my stressing in check) I got it done! Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Although looking back there are a lot of things I could have done differently/better. Not sure if they liked it though. The only feedback I got was from the 2 guys who picked it up (and they liked it). My neighbor liked it and is suggesting that maybe I could do a ladybug cake for a cousin.
Oh well, it's done and I'm glad I did it! Now I know what to do (and what not to do) for the next time.
