I received my Cricut Cake machine yester day and I have yet to get one flower. I tried using the frosting sheet and they kept tearing. I waisted two sheets. Today I purchased rolled fondant and gumpast. I will try by making my own medium. Wish me luck.

Is anyone else having this problem, if so how did you correct it?

I have been having trouble with my cricut cakealso and was considering throwing it out of the kitchen window, I haven't managed to use the icing sheets successfully, I finally tried wilton fondant and it worked. I greased the cutting mat and rolled the fondant onto the mat quite thin, I then placed the mat and fondant in the freezer for 20-30 mins, cut straight from the freezer, worked like a charm. The extra fondant softens quickly and can be reused. my circut cake is safe from the window for today. :^)

I have been working with mine here and there...I have made a little progress. FIRST OF ALL, I don't like the sheets they give you. I have found rolling out my own fondant works for me. I also tried a new tip today that said after rolling out the fondant and putting it on the mat, let it sit for like 30 minutes. I tried it and it worked so much better!!! I have have also found making the cuts on the larger side to work a bit better too. I was told the more intricate cuts should be made larger or they will tear. I am going to work it this way until I get more comfortable with the machine.
Keep working on it...don't give up.

I went through training for the Cake this past weekend and here's what they suggested:

Apply a small amount of shortening to the back of the frosting sheet (in addition to the shortening applied to the cutting mat); smooth the frosting sheet onto the cutting mat with the fondant smoother so that you get a strong adherence to mat; Pressure at '4', Speed, & Blade Depth should be set on high; make sure you position the blade at least 1/2" in and 1/2" down on the sheet - if it starts cutting too close to the edge, it will tear the sheet.

I have not tried mine yet (just received yesterday), but I did watch several demonstrations using the above guidelines and it seemed to work flawlessly. HTH!

I was having trouble cutting also but i lowered the speed to medium and that seemed to help.
