Hi Karen thanks for friending me, I saw you wrote you are looking for places to buy decorating stuff in Israel, if you ever get to jerusalem there are a bunch of stores here, there is a Wilton store, there is a store called 'Lashef', I think there is one called 'Mana Achrona' and if you need only fondant than most Pe'amit stores sell it. good luck :)
Hi Karen,
some places to find fondant/gumpaste 'how to' information and tutorials are: www.cakejournal.com and www.CakeCentral.com, on YouTube there is a lot of information available.
for example if you search for 'Mystical Mischief ' you will get lots of video clips from Elaine Thomas a very talented British cake decorator.
Places to buy cake decorating supplies in Israel you can also find on the web, but it is better to go to a shop in your area because they have usually more in the shop than the things shown on their website and you should see what you are buying, these things can be expensive. I buy from 'Mamlechet Haofim' in Nesher but there are other shops, just type ' tsiud lebatsek sukar' in hebrew and see what you get.
Hi Karen,
Thanks! I made my very first fondant covered cake (Minny Mouse) last April for my biggest granddaughter's 3rd birthday. I ordered just a small quantity of black and white fondant and some pink food coloring. I found out that it is not all that difficult and started reading up and viewing video clips on YouTube. I am also on the Cake Journal website which has loads of information.I don't want to sell my cakes, I only want to make them for the people I love.
Hi,
I did a search and found there are 9 members from Israel in the 'cakes we bake' decorating community, I am one of them, nice to know. I also noticed that the majority of the Israeli members are professionals but a few of us, including me, are not.
