You sound just like me. I am simply a home baker to trying to have fun with cake creations. It started out a few years ago when a friend of mine was going to get married. He is from Arkansas and I always referred to him as a redneck, so I told him I was going to make him a "redneck wedding cake". I proceeded by getting two styrofoam rounds from the craft store, some Hostess Twinkies and Ding Dongs, and I then put the two rounds together to form the double layer cake, hot gluing the packaged Twinkies standing upright around the outside of the cake, then putting the packaged Ding Dongs to form the top of the cake. I then touched it up with silk flowers, put a computer created sign for the topper, and sent it off to him as his cake. He loved it. Later on my daughter was getting married and I told her and my wife that I wanted to make her cake. They off course thought I was crazy and didn't want me to do it. But I kept after them, and they finally consented and I did decorated cheesecakes since we were having cheesecakes with toppings for the dessert. It turned out rather well and they were pleased. My profile picture in fact in from my daughter's wedding reception. After that I proceeded to dabble in doing theme cakes for family, friends, and work associates for birthdays and other occasions. It's trial and error as I go but it sure is fun. I like to get an idea and run with it. I recently did my brother in laws wedding cake, a sandcastle. That was fun. Anyway, good to correspond with you and hope to do more in the future. It will be kind of fun to see and hear what you are up to. Keep me posted. Keep having fun. Carl
