ICES is not a big commitment, just a yearly fee. And as far as other events, it's up to you to attend, you do get monthly newsletters with tips and pictures and fun cake things! And if you want Charlotte has two DOS (Day of Sharing) events that are usually around $25 to attend and are FUN! Let me know if you have other questions!

I live in Stallings off of Pleasant Plains, a hop and a skip from Matthews. I have a cake blog that I post pictures to as well as a facebook fan page if you want to take a look at my cakes. My cakes are roughly $2 per person, stacked is $2.50 and wedding cakes are $2.75 per person but again it all depends on who it is who is calling, how much do I "love" them and what kind of budget they are on. My cakes are all covered in buttercream and fondant is extra. My cake blog is www.angelabartonscakes.blogspot.com and you can link to FB from there if you have a FB account. My husband also says I charge way under what I should for the time involved. So I hear ya.
Have you joined ICES? (www.ices.org) you should, if you aren't already and if you haven't heard the National ICES Cake Convention will be held here in Charlotte in August, 2011. We can use all the help needed to plan and put together the event. Take a look at www.ices11.org for more information and start saving your $$, tons of NEAT toys and cake stuff to purchase and be a part of! Can't wait!! The NC ICES chapter has a website that you can look at for more information about cake events here locally and we're always looking for new people to join and enjoy the events. There are events in Raleigh and Charlotte 4 times a year, Charlotte's next DOS (Day of Sharing) is Sunday, May 1. Please take a look at the website and consider coming to the events! www.ncices.org Hope I didn't bombard you with to much details, but it's nice to know others are close by who also enjoy cake decorating!! Take care.
